In Your Eyes

A huge fan of early Genesis and then later Peter Gabriel, when asked to contribute to an '80's compilation cd, the first song to come to mind was Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes".  Here's Tom's recent rendition of the 1980's classic.

Sweet Little Mina

Here's an original from Tom.  It's the opening song from a new series that's currently in the works.  This project will tell a classic horror story with music...  This particular song is surprisingly bright and lively, which is in sharp contrast to the dark tale that follows!

The River's Edge

Here's another new song from Tom - This one features duel blues harps and has been chosen as the opener for the cd Tomography!

One of the Compilation CD's from the Saxon Sound recording group, this one's theme is "Songs from before the British Invasion!"  For Tom's contribution... he does 2 classic "pre-Beatles" tunes:

Route 66

Made famous by the Nat "King" Cole version, Route 66 has been covered by many top artists over the years.  This version features fellow Saxonite Frank Northcutt on keys!

Route 66 (Bobby Troup)

Under the Boardwalk

This song was originally released by the Drifters in 1964 and went to number 4 on Billboard's Hot 100 songs.  It continues to this day as a featured cover tune by classic rock bands everywhere.

Progressive?  R & B? (You be the Judge!)

Here's another song from Tom's Tomography cd.  Written after a particularly "enlightening" day in the news...  With headlines that included news of a "Cervical Cancer Vaccine" along with some new discoveries about the building of the "Great Wall of China", the inspiration for this piece was born.

Here's 2 original songs from Tom, both included on his Tomography cd.

Blues!

This one is definitely blue!  The song was written and the rhythm tracks recorded in a single weekend.  Then with a bit of "rehearsal" throughout the following week, the entire lead track was recorded in a single take the following weekend.

Lullaby!!!

Written while babysitting for his infant Grandson, this one's pretty much self-explanatory.  It's a...

Lullaby for Seth copyright 2008 - Tom Hoelle

A Night at The Farnsworth copyright 2004 - Tom Hoelle

This song was written after a stay in the Sarah Black room at the Farnsworth House in Gettysburg Pennsylvania.  There's lots of legend associated with this house which was situated in the midst of the famous Civil War battle.  It's said that the only civilian casualty (Jenny Wade) was actually shot from the 3rd story garret of this house.  Bullet holes still dot the side of the building where Union soldiers attempted to "take out" the Confederate sharpshooters positioned there.  The house is now a Bed and Breakfast and been featured on the PBS series "Haunted Destinations".  The lyrics reflect legend as well as personal experiences.  This song is included on Tom's Slight of Hand cd.

Now a video!!!  Check out the video version on YouTube HERE!

Here's a couple'a songs from Underlying Dream!

The Road Home

This home style piece of Americana shows what can happen when Dwayne applies his considerable vocal talents to a song... with help from Jon, the vocal harmonies are "spot on".  They're tight, focused and shine with a musical quality all their own.

The Road Home (2006 Shafer/Hoelle)

------------------------------------------

Love and Trust

This song is really the first collaborative songwriting effort between Tom and Don Shafer and so represents the very beginnings of the band that would become known as Underlying Dream.  Minimal instrumentation defines this piece with Tom handling vocals and acoustic guitars.

Love and Trust (2006 Shafer/Hoelle)

From the first Compilation CD from Saxon Sound, the theme is "Non-hits from the 60's and 70's".  Here's Tom doing 2 classic rock tunes from the late '60's:

Ramble On

Led Zeppelin originally recorded Ramble On in 1969 and included it on their venerable Led Zeppelin II album.  The song features a cool interplay between the bass, drums and rhythm guitar and has been listed as #433 in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Songs of all time!  Casual references to J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord of the Rings occur variously in the lyrics and provide an "otherworldly" flavor to an otherwise wonderful blues-rock piece!  Here's Tom doing...

Ramble On (Page/Plant)

------------------------------------------

Mr. Soul

Written by Neil Young, Mr. Soul was recorded and released in 1967 by Buffalo Springfield while Neil was a member of this band's all-star line up.  Here's Tom's version...
